Noel McClinton was shot multiple times in front of the Fireman's Exempt Club 200 on Mansion Street in the City of Poughkeepsie on January 27, said City of Poughkeepsie Police Det. Lt. Matt Clark.
An investigation by the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department and the Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office led detectives to Robert Whitaker, 38, of North Carolina, Clark said.
The case against Whitaker was presented to a grand jury and he was indicted for the murder and a warrant was issued for his arrest, police said.
Since then, several attempts have been made by the City of Poughkeepsie Police and other New York and southern law enforcement agencies to locate and apprehend Whitaker, all have proven unsuccessful.
Whitaker is from the Northampton County area of North Carolina, but he has been traveling between North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia, Clark said.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Whitaker is asked to call the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department at 845-451-7577 or their local law enforcement agency.
